Ava reherniated ten years ago today. (October 3, 2008) We almost lost her more times than I ever want to remember. She went through so much. She went from a happy healthy toddler to very sick, frail and near death one in less than 24 hours. I made this video to educate people not only of congenital diaphragmatic hernia but of recurrence of the diaphragm. (When the diaphragm fails once it is fixed.) She was repaired on day 14 of life. Then at 25 months old she went through another 5 major abdominal surgeries during the next 2 years to fix her diaphragm and bowel obstructions due to the reherniation. Learn more at
